Line post insulator (LINE POST INSULATOR)

Line post insulator 1 of 6 types ofelectrical insulatorsused in Thailand. It is a component of great importance to the power system, as long as electricity is distributed along overhead lines (Over head line), as well as high-voltage transmission lines (Transmission line) and distribution lines (Distribution line).

Line post insulator — What is it?

Line post insulator (Line Post Insulator), or bar-type insulator, is a high-voltage electrical insulator similar to an ordinary straight-stem insulator, but with a long solid neck that prevents puncture-through. The top has a porcelain wire seat, and the base has a metal platform that secures the straight stem. It is commonly used on curves or in narrow areas, and serves to support overhead power lines in the 22–33 kV distribution system.

Line post insulator — how many types are there?

The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) usesLine post insulator 3 types, namely:

• Line post insulator Type 57-2 — used in the 22 kV distribution system
• Line post insulator Type 57-3 — used in the 33 kV distribution system
• Line post insulator Type 57-4 — used in the 33 kV distribution system

Properties ofLine post insulator

• Provides electrical insulation
• Withstands high heat
• long service life
• Made from high-quality material; strong and durable in use

How to useLine post insulator

Use Line post insulatoras a wire holder, indoors and outdoors; commonly used on curves or in narrow areas.

Recommendations

• Choose the size ofLine post insulatorto suit the application, considering primarily its voltage-withstand capability.
• Take special care during the installation ofLine post insulator; it should be installed by a skilled technician.

Precautions for useLine post insulator

• Do not storeLine post insulatornear heat or flame.
• Do not modify or alter the product, or use it for unintended purposes.
• StoreLine post insulatorin a dry place, out of reach of children.
• Do not useLine post insulatortogether with substandard equipment.
